My client is a well-established, privately owned specialist civil engineering contractor and plant hire business that has undergone a successful growth period and has become a leading player in the market. To continue this growth, they are seeking to appoint a Plant Fitter to maintain, repair, and service their plant fleet, which includes machinery from Hitachi, Kubota, JCB, Doosan, and Thwaites.
The Role
As a Plant Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a broad range of construction plant equipment, including:

Hitachi, Kubota, and Doosan excavators

Thwaites dumpers
-
Bomag rollers
-
Other associated plant and small tools
You will play a vital role in ensuring equipment is always safe, reliable, and ready for use on-site.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on plant machinery, both in the workshop and on-site.

Diagnose faults and undertake mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical repairs.

Conduct pre-delivery inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety standards.

Maintain accurate service records and report any significant issues to management.

Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.

Work collaboratively with site teams to ensure equipment availability.
About You
-
Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or similar role within construction or civil engineering.

Strong knowledge of excavators (Hitachi, Kubota, Doosan), dumpers (Thwaites), rollers (Bomag), and other plant machinery.

NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification preferred.

Good understanding of health & safety regulations relating to plant equipment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Full UK driving licence essential; CSCS card desirable.
