Project Manager Construction

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Construction Project Manager for an initial 18 month contract with potential to extend for a further 6 months  on a salary of £43,615-£47,684/annum, generous holidays and pension.. This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.

Responsibilities:

- Responsible for assuring the quality and availability of management information to inform the delivery of the service, including meeting statutory, regional and local targets
- Responsible for driving effective relationships at all levels both within their project, with other services, customers and partner organisations
- Responsible for promoting and developing a customer and public-orientated ethos within the operation of the service
- Responsible for the effectiveness of professional practice within their project team
- To take personal responsibility for the good use of the organisation’s resources appropriate to the job level and work area
- Responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s policies, statutes and government legislation are upheld within their projects
- Contributes timely responses to queries, media and other stakeholders in accordance with the organisation’s procedures
- Responsible for ensuring that all actions comply with the organisation’s policies on diversity and equal opportunities and health and safety
- Deputise for the Principal Officer (Capital Projects), as required
- To take responsibility for the development and implementation of their own personal development plan, and own continued professional development in those areas relevant to the role within the organisation
- Undertake other duties which might be reasonably requested from time to time

Essential Skills:

- Degree in a Construction discipline
- Considerable experience of successful project delivery in economy, environmental or infrastructure disciplines
- Good knowledge of NEC contractual and legislative responsibilities
- Proven track record in promoting, leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams including external contractors
- Experience of developing business cases
- Experience of developing options / business cases for and implementing shared service arrangements
- Experience of delivering improved customer services and efficiency benefits via business change
- Experience of working in collaboration
- Excellent analytical and research skills
- Experience of working with Microsoft Office (or other similar packages)
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead projects and work effectively under pressure to meet project deadlines

Desirable Skills:

- Project Management qualification and/or Membership of a Professional Construction body, e.g. CEng, MRICS
- Substantial experience of planning, developing and implementing projects which are high profile, complex, and high value
- Experience of delivering large scale infrastructure projects
- Awareness of risk management issues
- Experience of managing or leading a team
- Ability to understand and interpret complex data and show implications of data
- Service redesign and systems thinking methodologies
- Strategic awareness (including the ability to recognise and plan for potential impact of corporate approaches / initiatives)
- Display ownership and accountability
- Ability to drive out problems and overcome obstacles
- Ability to take the customer’s perspective
- Assertive and able to manage conflict situations
- Ability to lead and give direction to others
