Quantity Surveyor

Lowbury Construction Limited are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team.


Quantity Surveyor
Manchester, M44

  • Full Time (Part Time will also be considered for the right candidate), permanent
  • £35,000 - £57,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • 5+ Years’ Construction Experience Required

We are a multidisciplinary construction company that has been trading successfully for over 40 years. We focus on civil engineering but undertake a wide variety of works from civils, utilities, demolition and industrial building to refurbishments and internal fit outs.

We work primarily for the utility industry on projects throughout the UK and have secured several long-term frameworks with national clients that have worked with us for over 30 years.


Key Tasks:

  • To co-operate with, report to and implement the reasonable directives of the Director,
  • To ensure the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse performance,
  • To ensure timely submission of cash flow forecasts for projects and providing monthly updates,
  • To liaise with contracts management day-to-day,
  • To ensure the full and proper implementation of the Commercial Procedures where delegated authority so requires,
  • To prepare accurate sub-contracts to the level of responsibility dictated by the company’s Commercial Procedures,
  • To ensure that the timely submission of detailed claims and final accounts is achieved,
  • To liaise with contracts management and buyers to ensure timely procurement of relevant materials,
  • To be involved in dispute avoidance/resolution,
  • Ability to estimate would be preferable.


Key Skills / Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a QS role,
  • Good understanding of construction industry and the parties to it,
  • Proficient knowledge of measurement and valuation,
  • Good knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract,
  • Proficient in reading drawings, specifications and knowledge of construction process,
  • Ability to draft subcontracts and design appointments,
  • Knowledge of CIS,
  • Awareness of dispute procedures,
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages e.g. Excel & Word and project cost management software,
  • Client focused and excellent communicator at all levels.
