SHEQ Advisor

In this position, you will act as the main point of contact for SHEQ-related matters across operational locations in London and the Home Counties. You'll provide professional advice, lead audits, and assist the SHEQ Manager in delivering improvement initiatives. Please note this role will involve occasional night and weekend work to maintain consistent SHEQ support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert SHEQ guidance to site teams, contractors, and clients
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards
  • Conduct audits and inspections to assess SHEQ performance
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, identify causes, and recommend corrective measures
  • Promote proactive safety reporting, including hazards, near misses, and observations
  • Ensure all SHEQ documentation (CPPs, QMPs, Risk Registers, Method Statements) is kept current
  • Review welfare facilities on-site to ensure they meet legal and company standards
  • Encourage a strong SHEQ culture through leadership and good practice
  • Support the maintenance of the Integrated Management System and digital SHEQ processes

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a SHEQ advisory role within utilities or engineering (preferably in communications/fibre)
  • Good knowledge of NRSWA, HSG47, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications

Essential Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Certificate (Diploma or Level 6/7 qualification preferred)
  • IOSH Chartered Membership (preferred)
  • EUSR or CSCS card
