We are looking for a Gardening Supervisor to undertake the following duties on a day-to-day basis:

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervisory - Map and plan annual bed arrangements and order provisions, work planning, including preparation of staff rotas, delegating tasks, Vehicle Sheets and payroll administration
  • Turf Maintenance - Applications oh herbicide and fungicide and top dressing of turf.
  • Seasonal Bedding - Coordinate the design, research, ordering and setting out / planting of all bedding
  • Maintenance of all types of Paths - Maintenance of the paths, including leveling/raking and repairing any damage. making sure weed and moss free and non-slippery. Snow clearance and salting during winter months.
  • Maintaining the tennis court / hard surface, setting out various sports courts.
  • Fruit/Tree/Wall/Vine - Application of insecticides and fungicide application and the pruning of fruit in the winter and summer seasons
  • Water Courses/Ponds/Waterfalls - Ensure filters are checked and cleaned and a high level of care is taken in the maintenance of ponds, including fish feeding and looking after the aquatic plants
  • Hedge cutting - Maintenance of hedge cutting including pleaching, ornamental shrubbery and yew topiary
  • Woodlands - Maintenance of woodland areas, including damage from high winds and wildlife
  • Other - Oversee hard landscaping works and planning,
  • Oversee mechanical maintenance of vans, tractors and other garden machinery.
  • Monitoring contractors works.
  • Vegetable garden and greenhouse, care and maintenance

Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • Extensive experience of gardening in a private estate environment
  • Experience working in a 24/7 environment
  • Proven people management and organizational skills
  • Specialist hands on gardening experience
  • Spraying course PA1 Foundation and PA6 Handheld sprayer
  • Course in chainsaw maintenance / crosscutting
  • City & Guilds NVQ in amenity horticulture or equivalent qualification
  • Extensive plant knowledge
  • Health and Safety knowledge preferably gained through a recognised course
  • Highly computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Valid UK Driver's License
